The Family

The large herd of cattle that used to run freely in the tall grasses and fallow wheat fields is now gone. In it's place is a vineyard, looking strangely foreign in the desert conditions, and a blossoming winery. The grandson of the original homesteader of the land, Larry Bartlemay, has changed from a teenage cowhand and wheat farmer to a dignified owner and vintner. His natural talent for growing things in the dry conditions of Eastern Oregon has gone a long way. However, his talent for wine making is newly discovered.

Starting as a hobby in the basement, Larry's equipment area grew to the extent that he had to either confine it to a hobby, or a start a bone fide winery. While the "Special Collection" storage facility still resides in the basement of their farmhouse, the project has expanded to a refurbished garage, a small addition added for a tasting room, and a Primary Fermentation Facility, rebuilt over the foundation of the former chicken coop Granddad Bartlemay laid. In the hopeful future, they plan to build a Chateau on the Bartlemay land to showcase not only the delicious wine, but also the beautiful land to which they have such a deep connection.
